The normal position for a non-specialist. In inheritance, where the calculations are technical, taqlid of a competent scholar is the ordinary course.

In Canadian law

Practically: get the shares confirmed by a scholar, then have a lawyer draft them into a will valid in your province.

Across the madhahib

We have not yet researched whether the four Sunni schools differ on this term, so we are not going to tell you either way. Where a specific case turns on it, ask a qualified scholar rather than relying on a general summary.
