In Islamic law
Scholars generally permit a wasi to take reasonable compensation for actual work, particularly where the role is onerous. Taking more than is fair is a breach of the trust.
In Canadian law
Often calculated as a percentage of receipts and disbursements plus a care-and-management fee, subject to court review for reasonableness. A will can fix the amount instead.
