Janazah & burial services

Calgary's main funeral/janazah venue, part of the Muslim Council of Calgary. Its funeral page lists a ghusl facility (with gloves, aprons, masks, general and hazardous waste bins), pre-cut male and female kafans plus fabric rolls for custom sizes, and janazah prayer and burial coordination. Funeral contact published as Najah Al-Haj, (403) 615-9994; an MCC funeral coordinator number of (587) 438-1731 is also given. The page names the burial site only as 'the Muslim section of the graveyard at Vale cemetery' — recorded verbatim; the MCC separately identifies its cemetery as the Muslim Cemetery of Calgary in Cochrane, so confirm the intended cemetery by phone. Note the centre's own site gives 2624 39th Ave NE while MCC lists the complex as 2612 37 Ave NE (the address of the adjoining Calgary Islamic School campus).

What we haven’t confirmed

We could not establish: On-site mortuary, Cold storage, Ghusl for women, by women, Transport of the deceased, 24-hour janazah line. Those are published as gaps rather than filled with a plausible guess. If you know the answer — especially if you are from this organisation — tell us and we will verify and update the listing.

Planning ahead, rather than in a crisis?

The two things a funeral coordinator asks a family for are the burial wishes and the will. Recording where your will is kept and working out the inheritance shares now spares your family both questions at the worst possible moment.
