IMPORTANT: this is a Shia Ithna-Asheri (Jaffari) community centre operated under ISIJ of Toronto (Islamic Shia Ithna-Asheri Jamaat), not a Sunni mosque - keep it distinct from the Sunni Brampton entities in this list. Funeral provision is organised ISIJ-wide by the Jaffari Funeral Services Committee (formed 2008), which serves all four ISIJ centres including Masumeen; MIC's own page lists it as a subcommittee. ISIJ is a licensed operator under the Bereavement Authority of Ontario, Type TSO (Transfer Service Operator) Restricted, licence XX-1518 - a regulator-confirmed authorisation to transfer the deceased. Its published process confirms: volunteers obtain the burial permit; 'For Ghusl/Kafan, 2 of our volunteers will be present and you may have up to 3 family members (same gender as the deceased) also participate'; and 'If the deceased had kept aside their own Kafan, please bring this along. If not, our committee will provide the Kafan.' Same-gender handling plus a standing Ladies Committee (Lead: Sr. Sukaina Gulamhussein) confirms women are washed by women. Four cemeteries are named. ⚠️ Ghusl is performed at an ISIJ facility, not necessarily at the Brampton centre itself - a family should confirm the location when they call. Mortuary/cold storage on site is not stated anywhere and is left unconfirmed. Families are also asked to notify the Chairman once the doctor has signed the Medical Certificate of Death (Form 16) and to help complete the Statement of Death (Form 15).

About Masumeen Islamic Centre
ISIJ of Toronto says it 'has its origins in the late 1960s when a community of members began convening for significant religious occasions' and now 'proudly counts almost 4500 member families, totaling approximately 7000 individuals', predominantly Shia Muslims of Indian origin from East Africa. It built the Jaffari Islamic Centre in Thornhill in 1979, bought a second 28-acre Thornhill property in 1994 and built the 165,000 sq ft Jaffari Community Centre at 9000 Bathurst Street, and then 'in 2003, the Masumeen Islamic Centre in Brampton and, in 2016, the Razavi Community Centre were completed'. CRA registered ISLAMIC SHIA ITHNA-ASHERI JAMAAT OF TORONTO (107516171RR0001) effective 1972-10-31 at 9000 Bathurst St, Thornhill - the parent body's address, not this centre's. Masumeen has no charity registration of its own.
