How do I make an Islamic will in Truro?
The same way as anywhere in Nova Scotia — and that is the point worth understanding. There is no Truro will law. Wills are provincial, so the rules that decide whether your will is valid are Nova Scotia’s. What is genuinely local is everything around the will: which mosques here can perform a janazah, where they bury, and what it costs.

- Meet Nova Scotia’s formalities. This is the part that decides whether the document works at all — valid (the Nova Scotia formalities in full).
- Check your beneficiary designations. An RRSP, a TFSA or a life policy with a named beneficiary may pass outside the estate under Canadian law — whether it also sits outside the tarikah is disputed among contemporary scholars, so do not assume it escapes the shares.

- Record where it is kept — free, and it is what lets your executor find it.
Municipalities have no jurisdiction over wills or estates. Under s. 92(13) of the Constitution Act, 1867 that is provincial. Any page promising a “Truro Islamic will” is selling you a Nova Scotia will.

Islamic Cemetery, Truro (Truro Muslim Cemetery) — an entirely Muslim cemetery. The oldest Muslim burial ground in Nova Scotia and, for many years, the closest Muslim cemetery to Prince Edward Island. The Islamic Association of Nova Scotia's own page states: "Since 1971, the IANS has been maintaining the Truro masjid and cemetery. The cemetery was already in existence prior to the establishment of the masjid. There was already a small Syrian Muslim cemetery, established in May 1944, located on Bible Hill Road in Truro, Nova Scotia. The cemetery was owned and maintained by the Muslim settlers who had immigrated from Syria and Lebanon, settled around the Truro, New Glasgow, and Pictou areas in the early part of the twentieth century." Between 1968 and 1970 the association bought additional land around the existing cemetery, "which was just about to run out of space", and in 1971 built a masjid on the newly acquired land "which was contiguous to the existing cemetery, so the funeral prayers and other religious activities could be undertaken there." Operator: the Islamic Association of Nova Scotia (IANS), a community association, not a municipality or commercial operator. Recorded as an all-Muslim ground and not a section within a wider cemetery, on the strength of IANS's own description of it as a Muslim cemetery founded and maintained by the Muslim community; no source states an explicit admission policy. IANS's Dartmouth masjid names "Islamic Cemetery, Truro, NS" on its own funeral page as where it buries, and IANS handles burial arrangements through a Janazah Registration Form rather than a cemetery office line - the phone and address recorded here are the Truro Masjid's, published by IANS. NOT SOURCED: the cemetery's own street address as distinct from the masjid's, its acreage, current plot availability (it had run out of space once before, in the late 1960s), headstone or qiblah orientation rules. IANS does publish headstone options through DeMone Monuments (20x10 in grey; 24x12 in grey, HST and shipping included).
