Montreal is served by the Islamic Cemetery of Quebec (I.C.Q.) in Laval East, which describes itself as the first large-scale fully equipped Muslim graveyard in Canada and publishes an all-in adult package starting at $4,700 covering body pickup, ghusl by volunteers, kafan, a wooden casket, salat al-janazah, transport, grave digging and burial according to Shariah, plus temporary and permanent grave markers. Quebec is the one province where a licensed funeral services business is genuinely unavoidable: the death declaration to the Directeur de l'etat civil can only be filed by a funeral director holding a valid permit, which is why a Quebec Muslim burial usually carries a funeral home line that Alberta or Ontario families may not see. The Centre Culturel Islamique de Quebec in Quebec City publishes the most transparent itemised Quebec breakdown found anywhere - $3,012 funeral home + $1,700 lot and maintenance + $575 grave excavation + $625 granite headstone = $5,912 - and is a useful proxy for the Quebec cost structure even though it is not Montreal.

Who provides this locally

  • Islamic Cemetery of Quebec (I.C.Q.) / Islamic Centre of Quebec — VERIFIED CLAIM, WITH A CAVEAT: the site does describe itself as 'the first and only one on a large scale fully equipped graveyard in Canada where Muslims are buried.' That is the organisation's own ma
  • Centre Culturel Islamique de Quebec (CCIQ) cemetery — NOT MONTREAL - Quebec City, roughly 250 km away. Included because it is the most transparent published Quebec cost structure found. Operational since 12 June 2020 after more than 20 years of community
  • Dar Al Haq - Services funeraires musulmans — Publishes NO prices. Lists four Muslim cemeteries it works with: Les Jardins Cemetery, 493 Route 138, St-Augustin-de-Desmaures QC G3A 1W7; Saint-Hubert Garden Cemetery and Funeral Complex, 8145 Chemin
  • MAC Cimetiere Al Rawdah (Muslim Association of Canada, Montreal chapter) — No prices published. Same Laval address as the 'Laval Garden Cemetery' listed by Dar Al Haq, suggesting a Muslim section within a larger Laval cemetery rather than a standalone Muslim graveyard.

What we could not confirm

Published so you know where the numbers stop:

  • No published plot-only price for any Montreal-area Muslim section other than the ICQ prepaid $500 figure. Dar Al Haq, MAC Al Rawdah and the Laval/Saint-Hubert/Saint-Laurent complexes all publish nothing. Needs phone calls.
  • No Montreal funeral home basic-service price list was obtained, despite Quebec funeral homes being required to have price lists. The $3,012 figure used here is CCIQ's Quebec City number and should not be presented as a Montreal price.
  • The effective date of the ICQ $4,700 package is unknown. Worth a call to (514) 331-0300.
  • No Montreal-specific repatriation price is published anywhere, despite repatriation being common in this community.
  • The ICQ 'first and only large-scale fully equipped Muslim graveyard in Canada' claim is unverified marketing copy and is contradicted by the scale of the Edmonton and Calgary Muslim cemeteries. Do not repeat it.
  • Whether the CCIQ figures have been updated since the cemetery opened in June 2020 is unknown - they are labelled approximate and carry no date.
