Has its own facility to store, wash (ghusl) and prepare the body in compliance with Islamic principles, and is licensed by the Bereavement Authority of Ontario (Licence # TSR-1572). Also operates the WIA Centre at 2555 McKay Avenue and runs the WIA Academy education programs. Note the 24-hour flag is false because the site explicitly states coordinators are reachable 8am-11pm only. An older cached listing named a different third coordinator (Walid Hamed, 519-999-4424) - the three numbers recorded here are the ones currently published. The site does not name which cemetery WIA buries at, so cemeteries_used is deliberately empty - ask the coordinators.

About Windsor Islamic Association (Windsor Mosque)

WIA's own history page traces the community to Muslim immigration into Essex County in the early twentieth century: 'In 1950, the Windsor Muslim community consisted of 20 families.' The organisation was established in 1956 as the Windsor Islamic Youth Association and renamed the Windsor Islamic Association by 1960; by 1963 membership had grown to over 3,000 adherents from 19 nations. 'In 1969 we first broke ground on 1320 Northwood Street, where we are still located today', construction of the present building began in 1991, and 'In 1993, we completed construction of the Windsor Mosque'. In spring 2023 WIA began building seniors' residences across from the mosque, completed in 2025. CRA registered WINDSOR ISLAMIC ASSOCIATION (W.I.A.) (119299949RR0001) effective 1979-01-01 at 1320 Northwood Ave - the mosque's own address - 23 years after the association formed; a second charity, Windsor Islamic Association Foundation (815765904RR0001), was registered in 2013. WIA says it 'serves a population of 37,000 Muslims in the city of Windsor'.
