Janazah & burial services

Formally 'Muslim Society of Waterloo & Wellington Counties'. Publishes one of the most detailed public funeral-procedure pages found in this survey: the Masjid does NOT hold bodies for long ('not equipped... especially in summer') and does not itself provide transport - families are directed to Erb & Good Family Funeral Home (171 King St S, Waterloo, 519-745-8445) or a funeral home of their choice for pickup/transport, while the Masjid coordinates ritual washing (named male washer: Br Alkan/Imam; named female washers: Sr Aysha, Sr Busra, Sr Sadaf, Sr Shadat) and the funeral prayer. Named cemeteries have a Muslim section: Parkview Cemetery (335 University Ave E, Waterloo, 519-725-9280) and Williamsburg Cemetery (1541 Fischer-Hallman Rd, Kitchener, 519-741-2880). Currently expanding: submitted plans to the City of Waterloo for a gymnasium/walking-track expansion.

What we haven’t confirmed

We could not establish: Kafan (shroud). Those are published as gaps rather than filled with a plausible guess. If you know the answer — especially if you are from this organisation — tell us and we will verify and update the listing.

Planning ahead, rather than in a crisis?

The two things a funeral coordinator asks a family for are the burial wishes and the will. Recording where your will is kept and working out the inheritance shares now spares your family both questions at the worst possible moment.
