Prayer times at Ajyal Islamic Centre (Ajyal Islamic Society)

Worked out from this masjid’s coordinates for today’s date. They are not Ajyal Islamic Centre (Ajyal Islamic Society)’s announced jamaa‘ah times — those are set by the masjid and usually differ. Check ajyal.ca for the jamaa‘ah timetable.

Today

Calculated prayer times for Ajyal Islamic Centre (Ajyal Islamic Society), Vancouver, for today’s date.
PrayerBegins
FajrDawn — ends at sunrise
SunriseFajr ends; no prayer at this moment
DhuhrJust after the sun crosses the meridian
AsrSet by the shadow ratio you choose below
MaghribAt sunset
IshaNightfall

These are calculated times, not Ajyal Islamic Centre (Ajyal Islamic Society)’s jamaa‘ah times. They are worked out in your browser from this masjid’s own coordinates and today’s date, using the ISNA convention — the same arithmetic a printed timetable uses. What a masjid announces is something else: iqamah is set by the masjid, usually a chosen number of minutes after the prayer begins, and many hold it at a fixed clock time for weeks at a stretch. So the two will not match, and they are not meant to. For the times the congregation actually prays, check the masjid’s own site or phone (604) 563-3344.

Jumu’ah

Khutbah 1:30 pm 2:10 pm and 2:45 pm; iqama 1:50 pm, 2:30 pm and 2:50 pm

Times shift with the season — confirm on ajyal.ca before travelling.

Janazah & burial services

A masjid and community centre near Vancouver's Chinatown/Downtown-Eastside (across from Stadium-Chinatown SkyTrain station), CRA-registered charity. Hosts Jummah and Eid prayers plus Quran classes for children (weekday and weekend sessions) and adults. NO JANAZAH INFORMATION IS PUBLISHED - PHONE CALL NEEDED. Re-checked exhaustively 2026-08-16: every page and post in the site's own sitemap was enumerated (92 URLs) and the site's WordPress search index was queried for 'janazah', 'janaza', 'funeral', 'burial', 'ghusl', 'deceased' and 'death'. The only hit is a 2018 condolence announcement about a member's father who died in Madinah; it describes no service. The site's Services section contains only Directions, Visiting and Prayer Times. The centre's own Facebook page and Instagram carry no funeral information either. Every janazah field is therefore left unconfirmed rather than marked false - silence is not a denial, and a Vancouver family should call the centre (or ask about the BC Muslim Association's funeral service) rather than assume. PHONE RE-VERIFIED 2026-08-16 from the organisation's own Facebook page header (linked from ajyal.ca), which lists 604-563-3344, info@ajyal.ca and '202 - 181 Keefer Place' - matching the address held here. The website itself publishes only the info@ajyal.ca and donate@ajyal.ca addresses, no phone. A second number, 778-558-0547, appears in a Facebook event poster as a contact 'for info' about a sisters' Tafsir class only; it is not a general or funeral line and is deliberately not recorded.

Each line below is either confirmed from the organisation’s own material or marked as not confirmed. We publish the gaps rather than guess at them.

About Ajyal Islamic Centre (Ajyal Islamic Society)

The centre's own history page explains its name and origin: 'Ajyal is an Arabic word that means Generations. Ajyal was initially conceived as a Youth Development organization and was founded in the summer of 2005, as a "Summer Day Camp". In 2010, Ajyal began operating a prayer space in Vancouver downtown to meet the needs of the Muslims working in the area. In 2012, we moved to our current location and have been since operating a full-time masjid which offers 5 daily and Friday prayers.' CRA registered Ajyal Islamic Society (792525610RR0001) effective 2023-01-01 at 202 - 181 Keefer Pl, Vancouver - the centre's own address - eighteen years after the organisation was founded and eleven after the masjid opened. Its stated goal is to serve a downtown community it describes as under-served: 'The existing mosques are limited primarily to hosting regular prayers and are unable to offer the space and facilities to meet the needs of the entire family.'

What we haven’t confirmed

We could not establish: On-site mortuary, Cold storage, Ghusl facility, Ghusl for women, by women, Kafan (shroud), Transport of the deceased and more. Those are published as gaps rather than filled with a plausible guess. If you know the answer — especially if you are from this organisation — tell us and we will verify and update the listing.

Planning ahead, rather than in a crisis?

The two things a funeral coordinator asks a family for are the burial wishes and the will. Recording where your will is kept and working out the inheritance shares now spares your family both questions at the worst possible moment.
