Kanata's first purpose-built masjid (purchased 2016); resident Imam Sikander Ziad Hashmi since 2014. Runs the Al-Madinah weekend/evening school (described on their own site as serving 'hundreds of students'). CHECKED AGAIN 2026-08-16: the association's own Services index enumerates its full offering - daily prayers, Jumu'ah, Taraweeh, Eid prayers, Zakat & financial aid, other assistance (financial support, food, home & hospital visits), tax receipts & donor info, counselling, and 'Du'aa for Deceased'. No funeral, janazah, ghusl or burial service appears anywhere on it, and the 'Du'aa for Deceased' page turns out to be spiritual counselling and family support only, with no washing, shrouding, burial coordination, funeral phone line or cemetery named. Because the site is simply silent rather than stating that it does not provide janazah, every janazah field is left unconfirmed - but a family should not assume this masjid runs funerals. Ottawa families typically go through the Ottawa Muslim Association or Jami Omar for janazah. Confirm by phone (613-973-5000).

KMA's own about page states: 'Our organization was founded in 2004 to serve the needs of the growing Muslim community in Kanata. For over a decade, Friday prayers and activities were held in rented facilities such as churches, schools and community centres. Alhamdulillah, we finally purchased a property in 2016 for Kanata's first Masjid.' CRA registered KANATA MUSLIM ASSOCIATION (859651275RR0001) effective 2006-01-01 at 351 Sandhill Rd SS 102, Kanata - the association's own address - two years after it formed and ten years before it owned a building. It describes its community as 'over 6,000 Muslims, making up about 8% of the population', many working in 'Canada's largest tech park' and the federal public service, and says it is 'trusted by over 1000 satisfied donors'. Resident imam Sikander Ziad Hashmi has served since 2014.
