About Masjid Al-Farooq

The mosque's own background page states: 'Masjid Al-Farooq is named after the second Khalifah of Islam, Umar Al-Farooq (RA). It was established in 1987 as the first Masjid in the City of Mississauga. The Masjid is situated on almost two acres of land in the heart of a residential area in the centre of Mississauga densely populated with Muslims.' The same page records that 'In 2007, the Masjid completed construction of its new 8500 sq. ft. building', that the congregation 'is attended by Muslims from numerous cultural backgrounds', and that the mosque is 'a member of the Canadian Council of Imams and the Muslim Council of Peel'. A Phase 2 building was under construction as of 2026 and the main prayer hall was closed for renovation between June and August 2026. The mosque's donation page gives its CRA registration number as 119034478-RR-0001; CRA lists that number under the legal name MASJID-E FAROOQ-E AZAM MISSISSAUGA, Registered with an effective date of status of 1988-04-18 — about a year after the founding year the mosque itself claims.
