Prayer times at Umar Mosque

Worked out from this masjid’s coordinates for today’s date. They are not Umar Mosque’s announced jamaa‘ah times — those are set by the masjid and usually differ. Check mahcanada.com for the jamaa‘ah timetable.

Today

Calculated prayer times for Umar Mosque, Hamilton, for today’s date.
PrayerBegins
FajrDawn — ends at sunrise
SunriseFajr ends; no prayer at this moment
DhuhrJust after the sun crosses the meridian
AsrSet by the shadow ratio you choose below
MaghribAt sunset
IshaNightfall

These are calculated times, not Umar Mosque’s jamaa‘ah times. They are worked out in your browser from this masjid’s own coordinates and today’s date, using the ISNA convention — the same arithmetic a printed timetable uses. What a masjid announces is something else: iqamah is set by the masjid, usually a chosen number of minutes after the prayer begins, and many hold it at a fixed clock time for weeks at a stretch. So the two will not match, and they are not meant to. For the times the congregation actually prays, check the masjid’s own site or phone (905) 544-9016.

Janazah & burial services

Downtown Hamilton mosque operated by the Muslim Association of Hamilton (MAH); its own page lists only address, phone and hours (Mon-Sun 6am-10pm) and describes it as 'perfect for quick prayers and gatherings'. IMPORTANT: funerals are not arranged at this building. MAH runs one central funeral service covering all its mosques, out of the Mountain Mosque at 1545 Stone Church Rd E, Hamilton (905-929-1526). MAH has provided funeral services since 1978 and lists Funeral Pre-Planning, Cemetery Allotment, Burial Services, Ghusl Services and Bereavement Resources; burial is arranged in the 'Muslim Gardens' section of Mount Hamilton Cemetery. Funeral applications are in person only at the Mountain Mosque admin office, or email admin@hamiltonmosque.com for the form. Funeral Committee chair: Shuja Qureshi. Whether ghusl washing, cold storage, a mortuary, women's facilities, kafan or transport are provided, and whether there is an after-hours line, is not published anywhere on the MAH site - call 905-929-1526 and ask. Nothing about funerals is published for the Rennie St building itself, so this location's own facilities are recorded as unconfirmed rather than as 'no'.

Each line below is either confirmed from the organisation’s own material or marked as not confirmed. We publish the gaps rather than guess at them.

About Umar Mosque

MAH's own homepage says 'The history of the Muslim Association of Hamilton dates back to the 1960s. For more than half a century the MAH has administered hundreds of diverse projects and the original 15 founding families have grown to a community of over 40,000 Muslims consisting of over 35 nationalities who now call Hamilton home.' CRA registered THE MUSLIM ASSOCIATION OF HAMILTON (121569677RR0001) effective 1981-12-26 at 1545 Stone Church Rd E - the Mountain Mosque, MAH's head office, not this building. Neither MAH nor the Umar Mosque page publishes a year for this mosque itself, and MAH gives only a decade for its own origin, so no founding year is recorded.

What we haven’t confirmed

We could not establish: On-site mortuary, Cold storage, Ghusl facility, Ghusl for women, by women, Kafan (shroud), Transport of the deceased and more. Those are published as gaps rather than filled with a plausible guess. If you know the answer — especially if you are from this organisation — tell us and we will verify and update the listing.

Planning ahead, rather than in a crisis?

The two things a funeral coordinator asks a family for are the burial wishes and the will. Recording where your will is kept and working out the inheritance shares now spares your family both questions at the worst possible moment.
