About Rosehill Cemetery (Muslim Section)
Rosehill Cemetery opened in 1999 in southwest Edmonton, established by the Ukrainian Catholic Eparchy of Edmonton, which recognised the need for an interdenominational cemetery in that part of the city serving all faiths and cultures. It covers 68 acres divided into sections by denomination, faith and culture — the cemetery's own site names interdenominational, Ukrainian Catholic, Roman Catholic, Orthodox, Asian and green burial sections — and it operates as a non-profit on a cost-recovery model. Masjid Quba in Edmonton uses the cemetery's Muslim section for burials, transporting the deceased there by funeral coach after the janazah prayer at the mosque, and publishes the plot cost at $1,680 with a $792 open-and-close fee and $380 perpetual care.
