What is a small estate certificate?

Ontario's simplified probate route for estates of $150,000 or less, with a shorter form and usually no bond.

The Canadian position

Introduced in 2021. Some banks still request a full certificate regardless of eligibility, so confirm before choosing the route.

Other provinces have their own thresholds and simplified processes.

The Islamic position

Procedural only. The shares are unaffected by which form the court uses.
