Not as fixed heirs — the faraid shares run through blood and marriage, not step-relationships. A stepchild can be provided for out of the discretionary one third.
The Canadian position
Provincial intestacy generally excludes stepchildren too unless legally adopted. A stepchild being supported may have a dependant support claim.
The Islamic position
Adoption in the Western sense does not create inheritance rights in classical fiqh, though it does not prevent a bequest.
The one-third wasiyyah is the standard mechanism scholars point to for a stepchild or an adopted child.
